Looks pretty dry out there. Any fire problems?

I'm not sure that's even sporting. Jealousy abounds, on multiple levels!! bullmoose is on her bike, right?

quickbeam is right mr. steve.

it's gone the route of klunker-esque cross, and i'm loving it.

no fires, yet. i don't know about recently, but i imagine fires don't harm the oaks terribly as the brush is pretty sparse and might not get terribly hot -- elsewhere it's a huge issue though and i'm not looking to start any fires anywhere anytime soon so no stoves for now.

winter will be nice though, it's about 95 degrees on that side of the hill right now.

tomorrow i think i might head out for a day's ride with the quickbeam and explore some fireroads out in marin (if i can make it over there) or closer.

it'd sure be nice to have some riding companions out here! *hint hint*

What tires is the QB sporting?

They are 44c wtb mutanoraptors, I looked for a long time to find them -- ended up going through ebay. They were discontinued awhile back, which helped make for a really good price but also unfortunately I don't know what I'll replace them with the next time around. It's hard to find knobbies around 40-45 mm, mostly you either get cross or mtb sizing...

They work really well for the soil composition around here (dusty and dry), slicks do as well but the added traction lets me get up some pretty steep grades in a significantly taller gear (by necessity with the quickbeam).
