Having done the Oakland->amtrak-> Montery a number of times, did you ride from Salinas? Or did you take the bus to montery. what did you do with your bikes?

A dozen years ago, last I did that, the only Oakland Salinas was not a roll on bike route...

Nice photos...

from san jose to monterey we caught the MST--they had a pair of racks up front on a lowrider bus. Maybe we got lucky, as the bus driver was saying they typically use a highrider bus on the route (i'm not sure whether or not they'd let you put a bike underneath, though it's an Amtrak throughway so the CalTrans bicycle mitigation requirement probably applies to them too).

cheers

I passed you heading South as I was heading North from Point Lobos. (Me= blue Schwinn Le Tour test driving rear baskets, You=celestey Riv and basketed bike)

I thought about how much wind y'all were facing...

Hah, I remember you but didn't recognize. Awesome. We had terrible wind for most the entire trip along 1, I guess those storms messed it up fairly bad. But the landslide helped calm traffic on Wednesday when we were heading down to the next bit of coast ridge which we picked up at the top of naciemiento.
